Default 1969 nova l78 carb

Hi folks, I'm new to the board with a lot of questions to come in time. I recently purchased a 69 ss l78 nova to restore. Car came carb delete. Can someone tell me the correct carb # and what was the cfm for that l78?
Thank you and this is a great board!
Frank

The 4346 Carb was used on the L78, L89 and L72 engines for 1969 in Camaros, Chevelles and Novas as appropriate.

I started a thread in here a couple of months ago about the specific CFM for this carb and I did not get a definitive answer. In Jerry MacNeish's Camaro book he refers to it as 800 CFM but most of us over the years called it 780.

In any event, one shows up on eBay every couple of weeks or so it seems. Be prepared, they are not cheap. Good luck with your hunt.

Holley used different CFM ratings for the same size carb from 750 to 800. You can get different numbers depending on what settings are used to do the test.

The boosters, whether straight, down leg, or other configuration, have an effect of flow rating on otherwise identical carbs. Someone might want to check and see which carb got what. Our GE carbs have the straight boosters that are open down through the middle.

What is the build date of your car? I may have a 4346 that would be correct for your car.

I have a May carb. A January carb would be good for your car.The one I have runs well on the car but I took it off to put the original one on. I believe it still has the original base plate also.
