WOULD A IMPALA SS427 BE CONSIDERED A SUPERCAR, OR WOULD THAT DEPEND ON ENGINE OPTION (L-72 OR L-36). I WOULD IMAGINE MOST WOULD CONSIDER ANYTHING WITH A L-72 A SUPERCAR BUT WHAT ABOUT AN L-36? REGARDLESS FULL-SIZE KICKS A$$ !!! [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/

Mike,
I would agree with you. I think all full size, big engine cars should be considered "Super Cars". But unfortunately I don't make the rules. Here is the site definition: Dedicated to the promotion and preservation of the Chevrolet dealer built Supercars and COPO cars. Bill |

Maybe Tom could give a better definition, than I, but basically Supercars are hot rods that could not be ordered from the factory under RPO. It could be documented dealer conversion or factory built under COPO system. So L-72 Corvettes are not Supercars, while L-72 Camaros, Chevelles, Novas are. This is a great way to differentiate the rank and file muscle cars from the specialty muscle cars.
One exception I recall from SCR4 was a 70 or 71 Z28 with a special spoiler that was ordered under COPO. He was parked with the real Supercars, while a 70 LS6 Chevelle convertible was parked over in the corner. |

Impala SS427's are considered rare but are not considered Super Cars as a whole. These could be ordered with the L72 without going through the COPO program. Some exceptions of course would be the B/M and Nickey SS427 Impalas and 427 Biscaynes that were ordered from Chevrolet and then beefed up by the Super Car dealers.
All is not lost, there is a support group for us castaways. It's www.impalass427.com [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ ![]() Rick
