The guy I bought these from said they were early "take-offs" from his buddy's 69 Z28. I'm trying to figure out what to do with them...need to figure out if they are correct for my car or not. If not, what are they correct for?

Chromed tail pipes were included with dual exhaust as of May 19 when NC8 was dropped as an option. Many are familiar with how they were serviced over the years, a 2 pc assembly with the chromed portion welded to the uncoated front section.
That's not exactly how it was done in production. The rh pipe was 2 pc, welded to the muffler. The left side appears to be the standard production 1-pc pipe with the visible portion polished and flash-chromed. Original exhaust cars as late as October '69 were built this way. Credit Warren Malkin for the pic and leg work on this. Last edited by William; 03-02-2020 at 04:13 PM. |
