Today is a special day in our household- as today marks the day 26 years ago that a donor family cared enough to donate the heart to Holly so that she could live. We will be forever grateful to the donor family for their most amazing gift...the gift of life. I hope you don't mind celebrating this day with us...and I hope if you don't mind if I share a few pictures to celebrate the day!!
This picture was taken by me for the company I worked for newsletter...they were as fully invested in Holly's outcome as we were. Holly loved the sounds that the keyboard made...and it made her smile. We didn't know how much longer she'd be with us...so I wanted to have a few pictures of her. You can see the bald spot on her head, where they shaved to put the only IV that would eventually work....In.
This picture of Holly was taken by the charge nurse at CHOC hospital in Orange, Ca. on 11/15/1990-Holly was waiting for the life flight helicopter to fly her to Loma Linda for the heart transplant. She would 'code' on the table 12 times this day before the transplant.
This picture was taken at Loma Linda Hospital at one of the celebrations of life for all of the heart transplants in the area. Next to Holly is Adam (who has since passed away ). Adam was born a week before Holly and was transplanted a week after Holly-and they became lifelong friends...and our families were (and still are) close.
