How do I take out the Yellowing on a Hurst NOS shifter ball? This sat in a plastic ball holder since 1968 and has Yellowed above the plastic holder. Any thoughts? Don't want to take the smoothness off the ball or the leave it all sticky so no harsh contaminants.

Wetsand with 1500 and polish with some finesse-it or other mild compound by hand. It'll brighten right back up like new with little effort. Personally I dig em when they're a little yellowed.

Thanks all for the comments! Will let Sammy the D/MP racer put the touch on it. What is the thread size on a factory Hurst in his 69Z? 3/8-24 or 3/8-16?
