Racing the Deuce @ SCR18

A big thumbs up for Dallas and his crew at Beech Bend Raceway for giving us a killer track for the SCR. My personal best in the Yenko Deuce is a 10.17 in the ¼ mile, right out of the trailer I laid down a 10.20, followed by a 10.18, so I thought a new best might be in the works. Sure enough a couple of passes later I ran a 10.16. That made my day, but as I let the car cool, I was getting greedy and thinking out loud about the chances of a 10.0? run. Well, late morning I ran a 10.091 at 128.82, backed by a few more low teen runs.

And, to top the day off, my last pass I got to line up against the legendary Ed Hedrick in his Nova. I was able to get a slight lead out of the hole with a .037 to 0.51 light, but by the big end Ed was able to make up the difference to take the win with a 9.871 to my 10.241. For me, getting to race Ed is one of those never forget moments.

Before hurting something in his Yenko Camaro, Rob was able to dip into the 11s.
