Default RAC tach hook up

I have a RAC tach that has only 3 wires covered in a gray insulation cover. A black wire, a clear insulated wire, and one bare wire. None are cut or missing.
I can find wiring diagrams for the multi wire (like 6 wires)But can not figure this one out.
Thanks for any ideas.

Mike
