Default air cleaner cover

I have my orig L78 Camaro cover which needs to be re-chromed, however I do not want the
inside stencil removed. Is it possible to re chrome the top without destroying the inside stencil

Simply put.....no. The process requires the old to be stripped off and then several dipping processes to add the different metals to the lid. You can buy a stencil and reapply it however.

Also there were 2 different styles of the ink printings used depending on the year of the car. During the later part of 68 it was changed from curved to straight printing. I have been trying to pinpoint the exact month this happened but nothing yet due to the lack of samples.

Richard Fortier is well known in the Corvette world for superb quality flash chroming, as GM did back in the day. Maybe you could synch up with him to review the process?

i was led to believe that u can send the cover to ecklers or corvette something and they can do the stencil for you....granted, if u had a version of the stencil, u can do it yourself....any truth to the "send it to ecklers" etc??

dan that is a good lead on the flash chroming - most places think everything has to be super shinny!!

----This is just me, but I wouldn't send anything to Ecklers. Ralph sold the company long ago, and I havent heard anything good about it since. And that's with several friends in the immediate area......Bill S

Geezz -- haven't bought anything from them for years. Had good experience many years ago getting Vette' parts for my 67', 72', and 74'. TAZ
