----The rough cast on the other side above the crank seems to have been ground smooth as well. Maybe some work already done there? Have to remember that these aluminum blocks are repairable, especially in cases like this, if it is indeed a crack......Bill S

Seems like a valid ad with intelligent accurate knowledge. ...except , don't ask for pics,,,how can I buy it sight unseen from Pennsylvania, he's in Central Ca. , engine in Washington State ????
I compared those pics to my now sold March 3 ZL1 ,(his is dated April, late casting for a '69 block) and the sand cast flash appears similar. The 'work' on the left bank rear oil feed tube looks as factory done... (flash, rough cast removal) these don't typically crack there). I see no visible damage , repairs or re-decking on the right back water jacket area.....no discoloring either.. The big thing I see is a lot of rust in the water jackets for a 205 mile engine taken out soon after use. Looks more like it had water in it for years if not a decade or two.......emulsion and electrolosis happens when any 20-40 year old engine is sitting with water in them..... Being so porous, maybe the water seeped out over 45 years....lol... with all the parts he says are there... this is one helluva find....

It is been listed on and off for a few months. The pictures used to be more generic or there were none at all. The listing asked to make a serious offer. I sent a few emails with my number and got no replies. There has also been want ads in Cupertino for ZL1 engines.

I didn't see a phone number either, just Craig's list email response.
I'll try and e mail the ad as well. I have an idea of what I'd offer once I see ALL the pieces even if there in high resolution pics of what's vital to see. The chase goes on , just for legitimacy... humm
