Default Headlight Washer System 1969 Camaro Rally Sport

After starting the rebuild on my 1969 Z-11 headlight washers I found I was missing the Check Valve which is not currently reproduced. After placing an ad in the wanted section I located a complete set of original hoses from member Jeff Boone - 69L78. Since mine were nearly rotted to dust Jeff's hoses were an important find as the original lengths of all the small hoses could be determined with accuracy.

There are some notable limitations to the reproduction hose kits namely that the kits are technically incorrect, incomplete, and would likely not function correctly if use was attempted. The key here is the missing check valve Headlight washer check valve which is not included as part of the kit. Absent the valve in theory the reproduction kit would work but you would have to rebuild pressure each time you were use them to get them to spray.

The valve as installed by GM keeps the 4 nozzles on the headlight washers pressured up so when you hit the spray button on the dash there was little to no latency at the spray pressure way up front on the headlight bulbs.

The original as installed valves were mostly white and the service replacements were black. Again neither are currently reproduced.

After looking long and hard at the 1969 Camaro AIM on sheets CE1 A1 (237) and CE1 A2 (238) I decided to sketch the entire system to aid those of you that wish to get the system as close to original as possible.

Very nice Phil! I saved that for future reference. I have successfully reproduced the Y connector years ago and have had the check valve on my list of projects for a while now, but life demands have put the molding projects on the back burner. Maybe when I retire

Thanks guys.. The sketch may clear things up as part of this layout was on a Fisher Body ODS and part on the AIM. I like simple easy to read drawings.

Kevin,

Can you get an image of your repop Y up so everybody has that for reference? Also If someone has an image of the correct T versus the current repop.. That may be helpful too.

Thanks.

Jim, yes I can post a pic, I have 10 left. I would like to see an original T, maybe that needs to be added to my repro list too. I just remembered! I have a bunch of RS light takeoffs in a box for decades, I will have to check them more closely!
