I was wondering if there are any Z/28 experts that can help me with a question.
According to my Jerry M. Z/28 fact book, all Z/28's built from September 1967 to the beginning of March 1968, received "302" on the front fenders. I was at a show today, and I was telling a guy that my car should have the "302" emblem rather than the Z/28 emblem. According to the Muscle docs folks, my car's "official" production date was 01/08/68. That tells me that I should have the 302 emblem. The guy I was talking to says if it was a Jan. production date, the car was built in Nov/Dec 1967 thus getting the Z/28 badge.. Does that sound correct? Thanks JBALL ![]()

Hi Jason, re; your quote above....this doesn't sound plausible. How can a vehicle built in Nov/Dec have a Jan. production date? Maybe I'm missing something here? My '68 Z28 was built in April and has the Z28 fender emblems...I too have Jerry's CAMARO Z28 FACT BOOK and his data indicates that the change from '302 to Z28' took place in March 1968. Jerry is the 'Camaro Guru', I would go with his data as published. |

Zapper,
I was thinking the same thing! I didn't want to argue with the guy! I like the Z/28 emblem and I plan on leaving it that way. I just want to make sure that I'm talking intelligently about the car. Yes, I too would rather go with what was publised in the book. Thanks for your help. <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Originally Posted By: ZAPPER68</div><div class="ubbcode-body">The guy I was talking to says if it was a Jan. production date, the car was built in Nov/Dec 1967 thus getting the Z/28 badge.. I do not understand people saying there car was started one date and finished on another. My car was built May 15th and sold May 21st, an ordered car. The March emblem change is a KNOWN fact. Not just in Jerrys book. I guess people saying a start date may mean when the body went through the Fisher plant. My engine and diff were built May 8th. The M22 trans was built March 22nd. All on the protecto plate.

I've tracked the emblem change from cars started in 02E, 5th week of February. I know of 4 cars in that category. 3 have Z/28 emblems & the 4th has 302 emblem. 2 of the three with Z/28 emblems were finished 3/13/1968. I don't have details on the other 2 cars. The one with the 302 emblems has earlier dated components...Joe
