Default '69 Nova Firewall Paint

Hi guys,
I had my subframe, radiator support and inner fenders (front wheel wells) powdercoated in a 60% gloss black powdercoat. I usually paint my firewall, outer heater box and underside of the car in a semi-flat black, which is a bit duller than the 60% gloss. Anyway, I called the company that supplies the powdercoat to the shop I used and asked for a paint that matches the 60% black of their powdercoat. I got it and sprayed the firewall, but it really looks too glossy compared to what I am used to seeing when I use the semi-flat. Also, I got a bit more orange peel in the paint than I would have liked so I will probably sand it down and respray anyway.

What do you guys typically use for the correct paint on the firewall and underbody for a '69 Nova, Camaro, Chevelle?

Thanks,

Paul

I have used the SEM black in the aerosol and out of the can...I know there are other choices.

**the heater box cover has more of a semi-gloss finish than the firewall.

Well, I have a bunch of Eastwood Underhood Black and I may just spray can the firewall and underside using that. It is a fairly close to match to the powdercoat as well. Thanks

----Try NAPA "Chassis Black". Its the right sheen for me on the firewall, and the rattle cans really work well. They have "Underhood Black" too but I think someone at NAPA got thier wording backwards as the underhood is way too flat and looks much better on the chassis. I cant stress how nice this paint is for rattle can. It lays down on a clean surface really nicely!!!....Bill S

You can buy Sikens rally black in spray cans. It's expensice, but looks good, and has a great spray nozzle. Shoots a nice fan pattern.
Heater box should be higher gloss.

I have used the sikkens rally black in quarts and excellent product. Little pricey but gloss looked good
