On the dash VIN plate behind windshield, on firewall behind heater box, on the frame, on the blue VIN decal on the drivers door, stamped on the engine pad and lastly on the transmission housing.

Depends on the plant Frank. More often then not they are on the top of either frame rail aft of the rear axle hump. Some plants seldom stamped the frames (yes I know it was a federal mandate) so just because there is not one there does not necessarily mean it is incorrect. They were also stamped very shallow so any amount of surface rust or pitting can obscure it.
