Does anyone know anything about Dixie Chevrolet Florence South Carolina Dealer code 204 Zone 16? My buddies grandfathers 1966 corvette sold there new.

I did find out that Dixie chevrolet became Tal Williams chevrolet,which became Charles Smith,then Bill Rutland,then Newsome,and now Capitol chevrolet.

My '68 loaded 396 SS/RS was purchased from Charles Smith Chevrolet November of '67. I grew up in Charlotte and there was a Karry Smith Chevrolet that I bought a '85 Z from and always wondered if they were related.
The original owner was 76 years old when I purchased it from him in '86. He told me it was built for a GM executive and was being shipped to California when he bought it. The salesman took his deposit before it was realized it was destined to California. That's what he told me and, he had no reason to lie as I got it for about 25% of market value at the time. It's mostly original in excellent condition with 85k miles on it.
