Default How to indentify GM horn relay

The horn relay for my 1972 Vega is the same as the one for the Camaro, etc.
Is there a p.n. on the relay itself? Or is there no difference, visually, between repop and original?

Thanks in advance...

My 08A 69 Z still has the original.

Stamped:
862
12 v

I see no part number or date code, but then the date code could be inside.
Looks like this one, except I had the cover replated.

So now that I am looking, I see conflicting info.

The cover on mine was never painted black. I see "correctly restored" ones on ebay with a black painted cover.

Mine was silver cad and I had it replated silver cad.

Can't prove it is the original (we go back to 1975), but believe it is.

So... did some come painted, others plated? NORMALLY, even the slightest change will bring a change in part number, but I see both advertised as 862.

Here is the one for my car as well as 72 up Camaros, etc. I can't seem to find any p.n. or stampings on the original pieces. I can buy a repop for 5.00 or pay up for a GM. But if there is no outside difference, I don't see the need to waste money.

BTW, Thanks

Tracy: Sorry if I muddied the water on this. I posted info on my 69 Camaro relay.

Haven't a clue on the Vega stuff.
Would guess it is the same as a comparable year Camaro.
If so, the guys at nastyz28 can surely help.

BTW, have you posted any recent pics of the Vega?

I really like those cars with roll bars etc.

Thinking of doing the same type of thing to a 70 Opel Rallye if I can find a rust free body.
