Default Moroso valve covers. Old vs new?

Maybe this was covered already. Have they changed?

The Moroso valve covers on my Camaro project (on another post) are a heavier stamped steel. Much heavier than the new ones.

Moroso covers came out in 1974-originally available only in gold anodized aluminum or plain steel(painted black). Chrome came out in 1977 but people on their own chrome plated the plain steel ones earlier than that.

Originals never had the oil fill hole and used a early style breather (in my photo below left). You drilled your own hole where you wanted on the cover. The covers in the photo have the factory oil fill hole/grommet for the later push in style breather but remove the grommet and the early style breathers bolt right over the hole.

Here are early pre oil fill hole the owners had chrome plated. The Nova was a local car(still in this configuration) and the owner told me he chrome plated the black painted ones. The other difference is on the later vc's with the factory oil hole, the Moroso logo is placed further to the right but the Moroso lettering is the same shape and size as the originals.

Ok, thanks for the reply. I haven't seen a new set to compare. Was wondering if there were any physical differences old to new that would be a give away.

Other than the hole and the placement of the lettering they are identical.Height, shape etc are the same.

I had a pair of the chromed Moroso covers that were rusty and pitted, a little wire bush and a rattle can blast. Presto!! Sleeper covers.
