Default 69 Camaro conv header color

working on a 69 camaro - garnet red car with red interior, convert!

the header (bar across the top of the windshield) was painted inside and outside the body color of the car during paint, as i believe it is a correct process. After installation of the header trim, from the inside of the car there is about a 2 inch strip running teh length of the header that is exposed. I was wondering, does that get the interior paint (red suede finish) like the dash top OR does it get blacked out OR is the body color correct ?

appreciate any insight to this - especially an orig non black interior cars) .

thanks again syc for space and time.

Ed it looks to be painted the same type of paint that is used between the dash pad and windsield, That paint that has a texture to it. They must of painted the top header at the same time. The interior in the gold gar is black so its painted black. My guess would be what ever color the dash was painted so was the header.

Might be comparing apples and oranges here, Ed, but I know on the 69 Chevelle convertibles, they used black vinyl top material across the top of the windshield header.

John, thanks for checking this out - it sounds reasonable that the inside of the header being exposed would get the dash textured color. So the car we are doing is garnet red with red interior.....currently the inside of the header is painted in the exterior color (gloss red)(done during the repaint process) - and it does look a bit weird from the inside..

In the second group of pics of the blue car......I assume the same applies, except the inside dash paint for a 68 was not textured, but semi gloss if I recall.......your pic looks like the missed the paint all together to some extent!

Unless anyone else has some info or pics, we will redo the header to a textured paint, with the same gloss level as the dash, does make sense they would paint it that way when they did the dash at the factory.

I really appreciate you taking the time to look at this for me
