Re: Car Brochure Data Base
Very link, Ken....thanks for posting.
Interesting, too, as car brochures have been on my mind lately. I bought a new 2010 GMC Yukon last May and asked for a brochure at the time. The salesman told me that they were out of brochures, but assured me that the GMC website had a place where you could order one directly from GMC. Shortly thereafter, I went to the website and found that indeed they did have such a provision, so I requested one that way. Weeks went by and I never got one, so I made another request via the website. Same result, so I tried a third time....nothing. Found their toll-free help line number and called. The representative on the line assured me that they would have one sent to me. Same result. By now it was October, so I called the number again, and was again assured that one would be on its way to me shortly. Still nothing. Just before Thanksgiving, I wrote a letter to GMC in Detroit. I received two identical reply letters (with the exception of being dated and postmarked one day apart). The letters said that my request had been submitted to their "fulfillment center". They went on to say that, "In the event you do not receive the anticipated literature, we recommend that you speak to your preferred GMC Dealership." So yesterday, still being brochure-less, I called my selling dealership and spoke to the sales manager. He told me that, with the exception of when the new Buick Regal was introduced, they NEVER had any brochures for any 2010 GM vehicles! So, I am guessing that since brochures are undoubtedly expensive to produce and distribute, they were viewed as a non-essential expense for a company in dire financial straits, and they printed either few or none. Sure wish they would have had the balls to just tell me that in the first place!
