Why would that make it so cheap unless by extensive sheetmetal restoration they mean it was re-bodied.

whoops, just remembered this thing was discussed here a while back...but i can't find the post now. A couple of members discussed the car...passionately. I think there were issues with the hidden VINs, but not sure.

This car was discussed recently,,but some of the prior threads seem to have disappeared..???

Apparently, the three VINs and the cowl/dash section are original to the Yenko, but they were the ONLY original parts to the original Yenko body. Fellow members, feel free to correct me if I have stated that incorrectly.

Also, according to a fellow member here, the buyer apparently was unaware of the exact meaning of 'extensive sheetmetal restoration' in Mecum's description when he bought the car...

He probably paid 50-75k too much..imo

One of the most interesting topics related to rare muscle cars is the question when is it no longer the original car. That is why this site, the people that know the cars and others things that track these rare cars become so valuable. Documentation, owner history and people that know the cars keep the best of the best on their deserved pedestal. Other cars, clones are still great cars just should probably never get on the pedestal.

Hey, show me a Yenko for 50-75,000 less than what that car brought and I will buy them all!!!
That car was a bargain period.
Holub sold his rebodied ZL-1 290,000, his rebodied 69 Yenko
for 270,00 ,and his 70 yenko for 100,000. Again that car was a bargain.

B-J revised the program to reflect that Gary's cars had been rebodied, so the buyers knew what they were bidding on. I'm betting that they have buyers remorse now.
I've always been curious to know what actually was done to this car. Was a real Yenko firewall installed, or was it just all of the exterior sheetmetal?
Anyway, when you look back & see what Mark B's Canadian COPO and the RG Roger Dean COPO sold for, it's easy to come to the conclusion that someone overpaid for this one 'if' it's been tampered with.JMO
