Sorry, I got off track here.

My original question was about the material; metal or plastic? I re-read the info and found that they ARE metal face and cup. Now, ........... has anyone seen these new tachs, and if so, ............... how do they compare to the REAL vintage units? The photos may be misleading but they look to have a smaller window/viewing area than the older, original RC version.
See below.

Also, the new Retro series appears to have a pin at the zero position where the needle might rest.

Anyone have one of the new ones yet? Opinions?

Dennis, the new units are also in hundreds whereas the originals were in 1000's RPMs. I stumbled across these looking for some SW green line gauges. I heard they were being made a couple years ago but not found in current catalogs.

Grady and I just saw two of these at the Cleveland show on Sat. One old style and one as in the picture.
They looked good, the guy selling said all metal cup and bezel.

I haven't found one in any of the stores here in our desolate part of paradise. I'd like to see it up close and compare old to new before ordering one. The price doesn't seem out of line. Summit & Jegs have them now, as well as other houses.
