What should I use to attach the shift slider retainers to the underside of the shift plate to hold the shift slider seal in place on my 1970 4speed Nova?I thought screws would do the trick but there are no threads in the 4 holes on the underside of the shift plate. Were rivets originaly pressed in?Any help would be appreciated.Thanks,Bill.

they are a course self taping screws that go in and hold the brackets, tiny bit of grease helps the plate glide.
