Default To BE or not BE opinions please...

I have not had any time to work on Beater with my wife in school, 3 kids and work, but my wife is finally graduating on the 18th of this month, and has a job offer from the Law firm she has been interning at, so I have my spare time back and excited to get back to my projects, I went to my shop this past weekend to get a game plan clean things up so I can start working on my junk again, I took the cover off beater and evaluated what I need to do, I'm sure I will be looking for a few opinions on the car but one that I keep going rounds with is the rear end, for those who do not remember the car came with a BE early date rear with GM 4:88 gears not 4:10's, some have said its fake and some reputable sources have made multiple offers to buy it, I restored the rear I decided to put the carier and 4:88 gears back in just the way it came out, Im still not sure I want to sell the rear, But wondering if it is a waste in the car, I do have a Dana 60 that is early camaro stock width with gm perches on it and 4:10 gears, My car has no paper work as to who built it, and not rare by any means, its unique but thats all. I guess im still just undecisive on the rear, and some opinions would help I think... Thanks All and looking to spend more time here and with my cars again...

Its yr car, but since yr askin'.... But the bulletproof Dana back there and you won't have anything to worry about as far as breaking something (yr BE) that is potentially rare and expensive. Sell the BE and use the $ to finish your car and/or buy yr bride a well deserved graduation present or take the family on a nice vacation. Maybe the BE will find its way back to a real COPO car.

Good Luck Jeffrey!

I agree with Sam. If it is truly a BE rear, you should get a sizeable amount of $ to work with for the rest of your restoration. Seeing as your car isn't one that originally came with a BE (that you know of), I'd probably sell it and allocate the funds elsewhere.

With the demand for real BE's and what $ they can reach also being you're building a non-numbers car and have the modded Dana already on hand the above advice is very sound...spending ideas included!.

Yep there's lots of us here who remember your car..
Here's your original thread...keep 'er going!.

Well Sam I guess if I sold it I could afford to buy new bolts instead of soaking those old junkers in oil... Any one see a distributor cap around here
