Nothing new about that.

When I was selling Dodges new 1968-1974 that went on all the time with the pre-delivery of new cars. On the 2 door hardtops the windows leaked air and water so bad that one of the favorite fixes (beyond twisting the end of the opened door all the way back to the hinges) was to feed rubber hose through the hollow weather stripping.
