Default A Daytona Yellow Day

I spent the day assisting my friend with the re-assembly of his 69 RS JL8 Z28. After way too long in "body shop jail" the car came home to get finished; this a long familiar story. Anyway this is not your average Z28 with a cross ram, it is a real L.A. built car with AM-FM, Tilt, Tach/gauges, liquid tire chain and JL8 options. This has been a western car all of its life starting in San Diego and then being purchased by the current and second owner in the late 1970's here in the Phoenix area; yes that appears to be the original muffler, resonators and tailpipes. Soon after buying the car he added the cross ram and streel cross ram cowl hood using parts he purchased at the local chevy dealer; this car is very nice and has all of the paperwork to prove it's heritage.

If having a real JL8 car is not enough, check out what it shares the garage with, a Daytona Yellow 70 RS Z28! After a day of seeing yellow it took some time for my eyes to adjust. It was a very fun day working on such a nice original car, I can't wait to see these two cruising down the road together. Hey if they are cruising down the road together, maybe he will let me drive one of them.

Yeah...I don't think I've seen either car there.

The 69 has been in storage for several years so it probably hasn't been to the Pavillions since the 90's. The 70 has been out several times and he was at our neighborhood car show last fall. When at the Pavillions we like to park my Sunflower LT-1 Vette and his 70 Daytona Yellow car together; we keep score of which one the ladies like best. If you are wondering who wins, well lets just say the ladies like to go topless.

I was talking to the owner tonight and asked him about paperwork on the 69. As we spoke on the phone he read the Protectoplate from Courtesy Cheverolet in San Diego to me, then went through the original owners California registrations. When he got done with that data he went through all of his AZ registrations, a stack of receipts and then the build sheet. This thing is loaded, I amost wrecked my car as I listed to him go through the options on the phone. In addition to the opions I previously listed this car has speed warning, M-22 trans and sport wheel all on the build sheet, this thing is way cool.
