I have a 69 Camaro 12 bolt with some strange stampings. Originally I thought it was a very sloppy restamp, but after checking the codes I think it may be factory. The tube looks like it was stamped CBS originally which is 3:31 Posi. Then, BL is stamped over the BS. BL is 3.07 open. The axle has a 3.07 open carrier and ring/pinion in it. I could see someone restamping a BL to a BS but not vise versa. Any opinions?

Noone? I guess it really doesn't matter anyway since it will most likely make its way into a hot rod application. I just thought it was interesting.

I saw an overstamp on another axle recently. Not sure I've ever seen a grindout though.
Looks like it's 70 Nova axle with a 341 housing....

I'll try to post more pictures. I thought it was 69 Camaro since many of the other parts I got with it were Camaro and of course the code. There were some Nova parts as well.
Thanks, Jason |

Jason,
Is the axle housing 341 or 860? The axles are exactly the same except for the extra C before the code and the housing #, so it does look just like a 69 axle. It's discussed at http://www.camaros.org/drivetrain.sh...arAxleNumbers.
