Can anyone tell me what the application for a Delco R49 battery is?
Thanks, Jason ![]() |

I'm thinking that was a number that was for Fords. Been a long time since I sold Delco batteries.

It's a group 24F battery, same as a R59 but with the terminals reversed.
John got it: used in several 63-70 (year of my catalog) Fords and Mercurys. Probably would work well in place of a Y55 in a Z28.... http://www.camaros.org/underhood.shtml#Batteries

Interesting,
I wonder is this was substituted on the Nova line in 1970 as there are indications that the terminals were reversed on some spring 1970 Nova top post batteries. The battery cables numbers changed. Lanny Weatherford's Original cables would not fit on the standard R59 repro. He is the original owner and mentioned it a few years ago. Greg

Interesting. I did get this battery along with a lot of NOS Nova parts.
Thanks, Jason |
