i'm having some trouble getting my doors to shut properly on my second gen without having to slam them. i just want to be able to push them gently and its been a fight. i put nos gm hinges on them and nos striker pins. they are all gm parts no repro crap. any advice you guys have would be greatly appreciated.

Is the door aligned with the rest of the metal (front fender/rear quarter/rocker)? If so, you just need to align the striker. Just get some playdoh and roll up a small ball of it, put it directly on the door latch and close the door a little to get the impression of where the striker is, then adjust. You'll have to do it a couple of times to get it right..

i dont have the fenders on the car. but the quarter and the rocker line up and the body line is right on. even the striker seems right it just wont close all the way easily . do you know what the right size gap is? ive been curious as to the gap at the A pillar and front of door especially/ how high and how wide the door should be to that pillar

Are you closing it with the window down or up? How does it close with the window down? Did you just put on new door weatherstrip?

i put weatherstripping in last year and ive closed it both ways. ive considered pulling the door completely off and starting over im so frustrated with it. its holding me up from painting the car. the weatherstripping is OER from classics industries. the passenger door shuts nicely with the weatherstrip in. ive often wondered if the problem was the weatherstrip on the drivers door

Sounds like the weather stripping? I seem to have had the same problem.

I am glad this came about, because I was wondering what "brand" to use? Anyone use the repro "latex" weather stripping?
