Has anyone tried cleaning an original air filter with any success? I've got an original 212CW I'd love to save if possible. Any suggestions?

They were holding a light oil originally, which turns yellow as well over time.
I've had some sucess with an air hose and wide clear mailing tape applied all around the element to try & grab the particles as you blow air through the element. I'd avoid any solvents,as they usually disenegrate the element. |
