Default Went to the candy store last night....

.... actually it was the KC Auto Show. Normally, I consider it a small time show, but Chevy had a decent sized booth. They had 2 of the new Cameros there. I had an opportunity to speak with the product manager going around with the cars. The car was confortable, but the look of the interior left something to be desired. It was a bottom level SS, no stripes, in silver. The dash pods were the Tach and Speedo with small temp and fuel gages under them. I am not as up to speed on these as I should be. Will they have saw tooth gages available? With 400 or 426 HP under the hood, I like a little more than idiot lights for oil pressure!! The passenger has nothing to look at or touch, not even an 'Oh XXXX' handle!!!

The PM was talking about a body in white program for drag racing, but nothing has been finalized. The thing that stuck in my craw was how he was down playing the vintage Cameros. I understand they are trying to sell cars, but bad mouthing the vintage stuff by saying that this car will run circles around the old iron kind of gets me sideways. No doubt it is full of great stuff to make it a modern car, but the full effect of sound, smell, and the spine alignment of a big block make me come alive.

They also had a ZR-1 in the gray metallic and a ZO6 in bright red. The boys in Bolling Green should be ashamed on how bad the color match was on the hood to fender. Sorry, but if you are asking me to shell out that kind of coin, I will expect it to look as good as it will preform! (That is what happens when you have been in a paint shop for 10 years!!! )

I read before that the Vinless 'Body in White' program was a go from GM Performance division and was wondering if it was axed w/ the closing of that division or not?.

From the Dec. '08 'Body in White' article I was referring to above...

"...The Camaro BIW package will be a full body assembly structure available through GM Peformance Parts for $7,000 beginning in the first quarter of 2009. The chassis will not contain a VIN number, so there will be no means for street registration, as the body in white is reserved for race teams only. An application must be submitted to GM Performance Parts for approval before any transaction occurs..."

Here's a link to the whole article...

Anyone know if this has been axed or not also if any units have been approved/shipped yet?.
