I believe it needs a SW sending unit. What are the gauges being installed in? I think the Alternator gauge is Shelby and is quite valuable.

Jason
This gauge is going in my 70 chevelle in a gauge holder.
What do you mean its very valuable ?? I dont have to put it in the chevelle if it belongs to a shelby.

PJ, these are mechanical gauges correct?? I have close to the same ones in my 1970 Nova. They are period correct and could be used in many different vehicles. The Shelbys did use this type of gauge as well..

As far as the temp. gauge I have the flexible mechanical line going to the drivers side head on the side. It connects/screws into this area where the original idiot light switch would have gone. Does your gauge have a sending unit on it now??? I know on mine I had them rebuilt by a guy on the east side of Cleveland, John Wolf, who is excellent when it comes to these things. He installed a new line on mine with the correct fittings. He also does lots of aviation stuff also. Here is is website:

www.antiqueinstrument.com

I would give him a call and inquire about the gauges... He should be able to help you with any questions you have..

I believe the gauge that reads alternator and has the boss for a lamp in the back was madee specifically for shelby. I would consider selling those gauges and finding others or buying the new ones. Just an idea.

Alternator Gauge

This one hasn't sold yet but should give you an idea of potential value.

The water temp gauge is not mechanical it has no mechanical
line. It has only a terminal marked with I belive SND and one with IGN. I presume that this gauge would hook up to the Idiot light switch or in this case a switch that is compatible to the SW Temp gauge?

Yes you are right
I will give that serious consideration.I purchased these gauges along with the neat holder, cast steel chromed. When I purchased it the holder was ment to be mounted on a council
I turned the gauges around for under the dash.
