Block Stamping
All,
Looking for a new project and may have found one, but need some good opinions on the stamping. Looks like they surfaced the block, but left the stamp pad untouched??? I've never seen anything like this done before. Thanks in advance. Blair

Not sure if it's a good stamp, but having a block decked without wiping the stampings isn't unusual at all. Of course back in the day no one understood the value of the stampings and lots disappeared during a rebuild.
Fortunately, once the VIN stamping moved to the alt vin location by the oil filter in some models it was still possible to prove an original engine provided casting numbers and dates lined up even if the pad had been decked during a rebuild. Last edited by COPO; 07-01-2022 at 05:22 AM. |
