Hi I have a 02E 68 Z28 with a original intake and it has a very rough finish to it.I also have a May car with the same intake but it is very smooth with no roughness at all and I know it has never been touched from the factory. I guess my question is will the original rougher one cost me points at shows or was this the way some came. Both have the Winters snow flake are are dated correctly for each car.

I would ask Jerry MacNeish or Steve Shauger that question.

The rough surface occurs when the molten aluminum is on the cool side when poored.I have Muncie cases like this.

Thanks for the info. It is funny how one intake is rough and the other is so smooth.
