Yup a Ford man. I'm swimming with the sharks !
My name's Phil. I wanted to try to help my friend figure out exactly what he has in his garage. I know its not a Yenko but it is still a very cool car. As for me, I cut my "car guy" teeth on my buddys two 69's. An SS and a 68 sport coupe with a 70 Vette's LT1 /Muncie M22 swapped in. I love the 69s for their simplicity of engineering, design, styling and performance. I have a few rust scars from Camaros but I am by no meants anymore than an enthusiast. I need experts for info on this car. My buddy is a former coworker. Over time, working with me he found out I was a car nut so he mentions he has an old Camaro with a 427 in it. Obviously, I excitedlly asked him about a million questions before he finally said he would try to tell me everything he knew about it. It wasn''t a real lot. Just what his dad had told him. His dad (a bodyman) passed from cancer about two years prior and he got the car. The car has sat for 30 years since the engine siezed. My buddy Matt never heard it run in his lifetime. According to Matt the car was bought new by his dad. His dad said it was bought black because he wanted the teal interior. He said it was only available in a black car (unsure of accuracy). His dad then immediatly stripped the car of its emblems and paint and painted it the color he wanted. The teal shown here. He also moulded the spoiler into the trunklid for what he thought looked better. After the motor siezed he parked it. The last time it moved was when I told my buddy to put it on carpet on jackstands. I haven't seen the car for a while but I recall a drawer full of perfect emblems. I THINK I saw SS emblems, not RS and maybe a 350 fender badge. A guy who saw these pix (I have more) said there are engine compartment differences that normally tip off a big block car VS a SBC car. He said this car had the BBC nuances. Can you confirm this? I am hoping that you can; decode the VIN, verify the car as an original small block car (or BBC car), the availability of teal interiors with other exterior colors and maybe the rarity of this car (and for my curiosity, value) Before anyone asks, this car will never be sold. Its my buddy's conection to his dad. His dad never fixed it back up but it was considered a prize to him. Matt was unemployed for a very long time and never ditched this car. I think he'd sell a kidney 1st, and yes, I asked. (about the car, not the kidney) Thanks!!!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() For anyone curious: My car. 466CID/C6 9" rust free Texas 70 Fairlane.
