Default BB Cast Iron Intake Paint

Were the cast iron intakes painted before or after they were installed on the motor? If after - would there be overspray on the intake gaskets?

The engines were painted when almost complete. The intakes were in fact installed and the gaskets would have been painted as well.

Would that include the bypass hose? Or at least the ends/clamps of the hose? Been wondering about this. I don't have mine painted but it would be simple enough to paint.

From my research, yes it does. From what I have found on engines with aluminum manifolds, a "mask" was placed over the manifold which covered most of it and the bypass though overspray still got on it. The cast iron intake used no mask other than over the carb flange so therefore the bypass was completely painted.
