I recently joined a local car club called the Pittsburgh C.A.R.S. Stands for Classics, Antiques, Rods, and Specialty, kind of a way to cater to all. A friend from work is the treasurer and after attending last winter's Pittsburgh International Dragway Reunion and Hall of Fame induction ceremony which was put on by the Pittsburgh C.A.R.S. folks I knew they had their act together and were an organization worth looking into. Today was their annual "Summer Picnic." It was a BYOB covered dish type of affair and everyone in attendance was incedibly cordial and welcoming to me as a new member. I just thought I'd mention it in case anyone in the Pittsburgh area would be interested in club information. Here's a link to their website. Pittsburgh C.A.R.S. Also, I'll post some pics of some local members rides. Pretty cool stuff.

Heres a 68 Beaumont SD396. One of something like 600 built. All original Nova Scotia car with one repaint. It's a Pontiac color called "Sequoia Green" but looks alot like '70 Chevrolet Shadow Grey. The jambs have never even been painted, they were backtaped when it was shot years ago. Super cool car, and Don the owner was a real nice guy too.

Lots of neat oddball stuff on these cars for Chevelle guys to scratch their heads at, like the Tempest inspired hubcaps with Beaumont only logo.

Seems like this was a popular color in '70 for all of the big 3. Green is keen.

Dig the "Day 2" decklid. The rest of the car had been painted, but the decklid wore vintage weatherchecked and cracking lacquer. Just looked totally 70's van era though. Now that's the way to a Mopar freak's heart.
