Default Help ID this Sway bar

Hi, just joined. Can anyone give me some direction on this sway bar. The guy I got it from said he parted it out of a 70 nova 15 years ago. It's 38.5 wide, 5/8 dia. All looks correct, except those vertical hangers. As far as I know those are not 1970 or are they? I talked to him again and he said for sure it was a 70, why would it have this style hanger and not the one pictured below?

Any help would be great, I want the correct one on my 70 BB. The original was tossed in the drag days. or if you have some correct hangers PM me. Thanks

Your assumption is correct, the bar looks right but the hangers are incorrect for a Nova. I believe they are for a Camaro, although I believe they will install on the Nova - the top of the hanger bar will fit into the 'ear' of the body bracket.

That was my thought, they were camaro. Later 70's??? I know I have seen that style just not sure where.

Is that 38.5" width correct for the Nova? I know there was a difference between Camaro and Nova on that.

Also, Anybody know if all the factory original axle plates had the angled mount for the bar? Or was there a difference between the BB & SB with the F-41? The Gm replacements all have the straight cut it seems.

Not sure on the width, but there is typically enough room between the mounts - and they generally fit.

The angled ear on the spring plates is the originally installed version, the straight eared version is the replacement. I'm not sure when the design changed, both will work though. Just remember that they are RH & LH specific. When you see a car with a flat spot on the bar from rubbing the diff cover, you'll know they had the plates on the wrong sides!

Shot in the dark.

If somebody has a set of 70 hangers they would want to trade (w/cash) for either the ones above or a 71-up set I have let me know. Will consider any shape.

We are considering getting the square ear'd version converted to the angled version via a water-jet, just need to find the time and a shop!

Why not cut it on a bandsaw?
