It appears the return spring anchor bolt has torn away from the backing plate on the Nova. Not sure if this is worth repairing or another backing plate is mandatory. Does anybody make replacements for this or is a used unit the only way to go.
Thanks in advance. |

Forget what I said about repairing...
![]() ![]() I've never seen this before. Ever. And this car has no rust I need a right side backing plate ASAP. Car is outside on a hill with no brakes. Hopefully the snow is done. |

Check with NNN or Schoney...maybe even Jason Hale. Same thing from a Camaro I would imagine...so somebody must have a rear laying around to steal one...or repop.

Not a hard item to come up with and I believe Camaros, Chevelles and Novas all shared the same backing plates regardless of 10/12 bolt as long as the brake diameter is the same but I could be wrong or so Ann tells me from time to time.
Yours looks like it might have been caused by an original stamping flaw as there is no force on the pin to tear it out other than springs and they sure as hell cannot do that especially since it looks like it was torn towards the center carrier housing and not into the brake area. Weird.

Of course I tried to blame the kid and his smoky burnout... |
