Default air cleaner

hello all, i have new in box a complete air cleaner with element part no. 6485891, can anybody tell me what year and application it is for? any help will be appreciated, thank you, Jim

Hi Jim,
Your air cleaner assembly was released for the never built 71 LS6 Chevelle. It superceded the 1970 6485235 cowl air cleaner assembly and was sold over the counter through GM dealers till August 1 1986 when it was discontinued. Hope this helps.

thanx guys, i didn't look in the box, is this air cleaner the same as a 70 cowl induction air cleaner? will it work on a 70 or is it all together different

Jim,
It's virtually identical to the 70 air cleaner. The only difference is in the vent tube to the valve cover design being slightly different.
