Default New Smyrna Beach, FL

Just got a call from the wife, and she's booking a week at a condo in some place called "Oceanwalk, New Smyrna Beach, FL"...my wife & I and our 4 kids, then another couple and their 2 kids. This is the wife's deal, and she's been doing the negotiating with the owner, so...?

Anyway, anyone familiar with this area? The pictures look ok, but I'd rather not show up with 6 kids and it be straight ghetto or something!

No idea on the accomodations thing but if looking for some entertainment value while there, take the kids to a night of racing at the New Smyrna Speedway!. We took the stock cars down there back in the 90's...great bunch o' people and a real 'good old days' track and feeling!.

And not sure if things have changed now but if you have any time alone, whatever you do stay out of their strip joints!. Bare breasted girls walking around a dimly lit room appear nippleless w/ the skin toned circular band-aids the local laws dictate they wear there...it's a brain-stain I'm still shuddering from!.

Well, I live about 8 miles from NSB...in fact, I bowl there on Friday nights. It's a small sleepy Florida East coast town.
Not much to do but they have a great cruise-in on the 2nd Saturday of each month.

If you like to fish, Mosquito Lagoon has great Redfish/Spotted Sea trout/Snook fishing with plenty of guides for hire.

Daytona is just a 20 minute drive North if you want to see the Speedway and it's exhibits.

Let me know if you need any info...I'll check on the place you're staying and shoot you a PM.

Did I actually say I bowled there...

Bowling is cool! Just don't make the mistake of bowling against Kwhizz when he's down in your neck of the woods.

He's got a crazy good average!

If you are going between Feb. 29 & March 9 be aware that Daytona Bike Week is taking place then at Daytona Beach. This is not too far from where you will be.. It is kind of crazy around this area during bike week. The kids may be exposed to some "strange" things that you don't want them to be... FYI....

But I heard that where you are going is a nice area. A friend of mine stays in New Smyrna every year when he goes to Bike Week...

Rob....you'll be fine at New Smyma. I've been there many times. Forget the cell phone, kick back, get lazy and enjoy the beach. Ask the Local Folks where the good seafood is. There are many attractions close by for the whole family if you chose. Relax and enjoy.......

I'm thinking we'll be down there the end of May? I'm gonna have to hustle to make it back for the Nostalgia Reunion @ Gateway, but I'm darn sure gonna try!

Rob, did you get my PM with the condo website address? I don't see it in my sent box and I want to make sure you got it.
