Default The love.

Nothing is better than pulling into the driveway and meeting the original or second owner of a car. What a rush!
(67 RS convertible, 327/275hp "L30") She had owned the car since 1971.

You are very fortunate. The last 3 owners ive hunted down on cars ive owned are the type that would be swinging that cane instead of leaning on it .

It's always great to talk with original owners. You start talking and then a couple of hours go by in a blink, always great conversation.

I've had mixed results: The original owner of my Z11 was overjoyed that I found him. He gave me all sorts of original stuff.

The original owner of my hemi-Charger on the other hand, was terrified that the car was going to "come back" and finish the job of killing him like it tried to do many years before (a whole Christine thing going on here).

With my GTO, I have every scrap of paper you could want. The original owner was still local and in the phonebook.

When the car was done, I drove over to his house. His wife came running out saying how she recognized the sound of the car she had heard every day for over 10 years. His family lived in the same neighborhood, and family road trip memories instantly came back. I still have the towing bill receipt from when it broke down on Valentine's day back in the early 70s. They remembered that also

He was reluctant when I offered him to give it a spin around the block, but I wouldn't have had it any other way. Priceless.

I've also been lucky enough to track down original/past owners of other cars. Has always been a great experience.

In the last week I've been able to track down 5 owners of my Fred Gibb Nova when it was in Iowa. Hope to have some pics when it was raced at Eddyville Raceway soon.

Ok I cant resist:
the original owner of my 68 Camaro was very helpfull
he gave me a signed witnessed statement that he was the original owner of the car,and he took it to Motion for the 427 conversion. he gave me the origianl purchase order
for the car the black on black factory ordered L78. He gave me a copy of the origianal Record holder certificate
from the Detroit drag strip in May 1969.He also gave me
the newspapper article where he was the winner King of The Hill bracket racing with a winnig time of 10:60s.
Beat every one at the track that weekend.A terror on the streets of Windsor. Many people I have met from Windsor
tell me the history of the car.
I finally traced the second owner of the car his name is John
and he told me great stories of the car and how bad it was
on the street and on the track. He has time slips, photos
and new all the history on the car. He told me that he would give me a copies of what he had if I let him come to see the car with his son and drive it.. I not only said yes to his request
I invited him and his son to stay at my house for the visit.
I sent him details photos of the resto from start to finish
from then on John would not even answear my emails or phone
calls. OH yes he did tell me on my last phone call That if he had the car today he would make a fortune at the BJ auction.
John if you are reading this the offer still stands

I met the original owner of my '67 Corvette at the Vettefest last November. He presented me with the plastic GM seat cover and elastic strap that held it in place from the assembly line. He also presented me with a second set of original keys. He hadn't seen the car in 20 years and his 19 year old son had never seen the car. I presented him with the Chicago Corvette Club medallion that was on the license plate frame, he always regretted giving it up (the medallion, not the car). It worked out good for both of us. Nice reunion that both of us enjoyed in the Chicago Showcase......Thanks, Bob Ashton.
