Default Google yourself

Last yr I learned a valuable lesson about this hobby & the internet. There was a car for sale in Alabama & I called to discuss it with the seller. He was looking to get between $XX and $XX for it, so I asked him to hold it until I could drive down & inspect it. I got there 2 hrs later & after inspecting it, told him I was interested enough to buy it. He then quoted a new price which had increased another $5k from the top price he'd given me over the phone. When I asked about the increase he told me 'anybody that has 6 figure Novas can afford another 5K bump.'
The info he got off google linked to this site & the Gibb/Harrell feature car that I once owned. I was stunned, but grinned at him, shook his hand and bought the car calling him one smart SOB.

That would be funny if it didn't suck! (Al Gore is to blame you know!)

Since you're used to throwing money away, how 'bout tossin some up towards Illinois.

You should have said, "Yeah, I used to own that car but I couldn't afford it, and now that I am back on my feet again, that is why I'm buying your car." Then wait for him to feel guilty and offer him $5000 less than what you agreed on over the phone.

Then you would have missed out on buying a previously unknown Yenko Camaro at a super price.

The point I'm trying to make is that you don't quote a guy a price over the phone and then after he drives 2 hours to get there and look the car over and agrees to buy the car for the price you told him, ask for another 5K. I don't care how rare the car is, or how nice it is, it would be a matter of principal for me and I'd definately tell him what he could do with his car. That's just not an ethicial way to do business. I'm sure that the car Jude bought is a nice car and if he was willing to pay the extra 5 grand then he's a better man than I.

For years I have used a pseudonym, in lieu of my legal name when BS-ing on websites. People like that seller are the reason why. It's just human nature for some people to find out a little bit about you, and then assume that they understand your whole situation. The guy sounds like a bottom feeder to me. JMO
