Default FAV car magazines...discussion

What do you guys read, and why?

I dont know if Im alone here, but im finding allot of magazines pretty tired these days.

I was trying to decide on what to subscribe to, but not sure who deserves my money.

This is my breakdown.

Car Craft: Trying TOO hard with their cheap and raw theme, I find it irratating. Mag seems to lack substance.

Hot Rod: Too much content I cant really relate too, good photos, well written (as car mags go).

Super Chevy & Popular Hot Rodding: These guys seem to be playing JV ball. Although I think they are maybe improving as of late (?)

Muscle Car Review: No complaints here, except for not being a monthly.

Chevy High performance: Pretty good stuff. I dont like the newer chevy stuff, and too much on GM crate motors and how superior they are over the old stuff.

Thoughts?

Hank, since I started reading here, at Yenko.net my magazines are awaiting the next major computer crash.
Have you ever read an article in a mag and felt like something was missing? well, here you can get those questions answered and all the blanks filled in. Plus photos at angles the mags will never show.

I still get Chevy HP and Super Chevy (cant stop now, have to catch up to Verne's collection) but I spend all my reading time here going over great cars and stories. And an occasional, albeit rare, humorous note.

Have Fun !! Chris

I still like Hemmings Muscle Machines...it's the only subscription that I currently have. The stores around here don't carry Chevy Rumble...and it's hit or miss on some of the other smaller publications...

So what im getting is I'm not alone in my feeling. Perhaps the traditional magazines are getting displaced by the electronic media (web)

How can any paper magazine compete with the depth of the internet, and the ability to interact so easily.

BTW. nice shot of the car.

Muscle Car Review. In my opinion it was much better a few years ago before they dropped out of sight for a while. But as far as muscle cars go, it is still the best. Super Chevy became too much like Street Rodder. Way too big and too much advertising. Nothing like the older titles from the 60's though.

Questions.
Why did Muscle Car Review 'drop out of sight' anyway?

Why is it that the mags were 'better' in the 60's. Lord knows I was not around then, but I have seen old Popular Hot Rodding issues, and they are straight badasssss. Not so for PHR now.

Muscle Car Review dropped out of sight when Peterson Publishing purchased Dobbs publishing. They kept it for a couple of months and then converted over to Hot Rod. Enough people complained and now it is a 'Seasonal' rag. If you are looking for a great musclecar magazine, pick up Musclecar Enthusiast magazine. Some of the great editors and writers of the old MCR at the helm.

As for what shows up in mailbox, Hemmings Muscle, Musclecar Enthusiast, Olds Club newsletter and, the H/O club newsletter.
