Default For sale ads

I don't really understand why the Gold Yenko ad was removed. There's no (written)stipulation that when a seller lists a price that it has to be 'firm' & sold at that price by the first person that posts agreeing to buy it. Would it be wrong to have listed that car at '$160K or best offer' thereby allowing buyers to offer less than asking price, or in this case more? If this is a new guideline for the site, should we allow ebay ad references?
I'd much rather buy from an sYc member than off ebay. And, if I were to list a rare car for sale here, and members want to bid it up, then so be it. JMO

He was playing a game, and acting naive, I think we've all seen that marketing technique before

Jude. I don't have a problem with someone wanting to pay him more. The difference was he never had any intention of selling it for 125K. He priced it at 160K and had takers but had no intention of selling it for 160K. It didn't say 160K or best offer, it said 160K. I got into a long private IM session where he proceeded to tell me the rules of the site were abided by after I told him they weren't. This is from a guy that joined the site 5 years ago but his only input is to put the car on the site, not price the car at what he will sell it for and argue with me about it. He said he would post a real price but did not. The thread had turned ugly so I removed it. I told him to place a new ad and put a real price. He responded that it would be a hassle.

I guess that's my point & now I recognise that you tried to guide him to place a new ad with a revised price. I didn't get that info in your post.
Not too difficult to do...
1969 OG Yenko, 1 of 7 known, blah, blah, blah...$300K or best offer.

A what is it worth question is quite different than a for sale advertisement.

Lets get real about these fishing trips. Seriously if you are trying to sell something you should have description, numbers, nice pictures, and a price. Common sense, your trying to sell something!!

To me thats what reasonable people would do, especially with a super rare car.

My understanding is that you have to join the site, not be a PAID member to look at the ads.

This was only done to cut down on fraud.
