We have a '65 Corvette Race Car, which was sold new into Switzerland. Does anyone have the ability to contact and/or communicate with G.M. Suisse S.A. Bienne.
I have been told that they maintained all import and export records. I would also like to try and research more of the cars road race history. Anyone have any ideas? ![]() |

Steve,
Have you gotten all of the information from Kurt when you purchased the car? He had two (2) binders with detailed information on what the German engineer had done to the car to make it 'road race' ready. I recall the notes being German on one side of the page and the English translation on the other. There were two binders full of his notes/pictures. I assume you have the binders?...should have come with the purchase. To my knowledge, Chevrolet did not create road race cars...this car was a stock car that was made a 'road race car' by the German engineer. What is currently under the hood? When I saw it in Indiana (at Kurt's home) it had a high horsepower motor and the original 396/425 block (complete) was sitting on the side. I assume the original block is still with the car? The workmanship on the car is exquisite and the data in the binders is as thorough as deemed possible. This man knew what he was doing to create a 1st class road racer. Rich

Rich,
Your right the car does have the info and binders, which you mention. The engine is a JJ code L89 with 500hp. I am interested in finding the Swiss import documents to see what they say as well as any vintage race history. GM didn't build the car as a road race car, but did make certain it got into the proper hands so that it would be raced. This one was designated to carry that banner in Switzerland. |

Steve,
Is the car still a two (2) motor car? When I saw it (about a year ago) it had a race motor in it and the original block was done and sitting beside it. Just curious. Rich PS. Is the car still going out to Monterrey for the Russo-Steele Auction?
