Would a 1969 Chevelle Super Sport L-78/L-89 have 842 Aluminum heads? If not, what code would be the correct application? Same goes for a 3955272 block? If not, whats correct? Many thanks.

I may be wrong but I think it would depend on the build date of the car. I think the 074 heads were used on some of the 69 L-89 engines.

block:
3955272 is correct casting number for a 69 L78 block. They were made in 2 and 4 bolt configs. Will have to check the hole config. at the oil gallery area or drop the oil pan to confirm. heads: 842 is correct for a 68 or 69 396 L89 application (107 cc chamber).

074's are correct for the 1969 L-88 Corvette,1969 Zl-1 Camaro & Corvette,& 71 LS-6 Corvette also.
842's are correct for the 1968 L-88 & L-89 Corvette,1969 L-89 Corvette,1968-9 L-89 Chevelle & Camaro,1970 L-89 Chevelle. |
