"FAA Certification Date of the M400 Skycar occurs after December 31, 2008 or a Purchase Agreement is executed prior to FAA certification"
http://www.moller.com/skycar/ Wow! Says they are selling out to a swiss company. "Can any automobile give you this scenario? From your garage to your destination, the M400 Skycar can cruise comfortably at 275 MPH (maximum speed of 375 MPH) and achieve up to 20 miles per gallon on clean burning, ethanol fuel. No traffic, no red lights, no speeding tickets. Just quiet direct transportation from point A to point B in a fraction of the time. Three dimensional mobility in place of two dimensional immobility." Now imagine if Motion got ahold of one.............. ![]()

That thing has been around forever. The guy that invented Super Trapp mufflers sank all his money into inventing the Skycar. Sold Super Trapp to keep developing this thing. Many people invested in it in the 70's. All these years its been just a little bit longer till it's ready.

I don't have a degree in engineering, but I do know that the weight of a gallon of gas is 8 lbs.
I also know what an 18 gallon gas tank looks like, because it's under my car. ![]() My question is where is the gas tank on this thing? ![]() ![]() Where's that flyboy on this board with some real airplane knowledge?

Charley's right....these 'Skycars' have been going on forever. . I remember an excellent article Cars and Parts magazine did on them years ago. . A lot of them have been 'Tuckerish' efforts and some outright dupe jobs created for cash investors? . The best results were from the guy that started with a plane as it's easier to make a plane drive on ground than a car fly. . One effort was a flying Ford Pinto....folding wings etc. . I think the prototype crashed resulting in the death of the owner/inventor? . Wasn't the Stout Scarab a result of a stab at it to? . I think he was a plane guy going Auto and the Scarab was a great rig on it's own so he stayed on the ground....with his cars anyway? ~ Pete

The concept's been around since the early 1900's! There have been several stabs at it with THIS ONE actually flying! Moller's been around since the late 60's I believe. I remember seeing something on TV about it (60 Minutes?) in the mid 70's. He's been hashing out problems for 40 years now. I really do hope he suceeds. It would be nice to not have to fight the So Cal freeway traffic to get to and from work!
