Default 3973866 Muncie Handle

Hello...

I was wondering if the original 3973866 Muncie Shifter handles had MUNCIE on them or were they blank?

Thanks a bunch!

I think that you will find that the handle with no lettering would be used on the Saginaw 4 speeds and perhaps the HD 3 speed behind the 396.

I thought 3973866 was only used for M20, M21, and M22. Am I wrong there...?

I have never seen part numbers or markings on Muncie handles.

You're right Keith. I've never seen complete part numbers stamped on any OEM Muncie shifter parts or even complete shifter assemblys. Althought GM listed warrenty replacment parts - good luck finding them even during the time. Doesn't matter if its Camaro, Chevelle, or Nova. I'am refering to 67-70 factory 'bolt to the crossmember' Muncie shifters.

If anyone has a unmolested example to share, please post it.

Over the years, I've rebuilt and restored quite a few incluiding both big and small applications. Yes - there is a difference.
