Default Dan's 66 Mosport Coupe..........

This our 1966 Corvette Coupe. It is an original motor, transmission, and rear end car. National awards include the NCRS Top Flight (regional 98.3%), NCRS Performance Verification (regional), and once again the final NCRS Top Flight Award (national 97%). The car has an interesting story.

It is a three owner car. The car was bought in PA. The second owner had the car for a long time in a Corvette Collection in the Hamptons, Long Island area. He had the car in storage for roughly fifteen years. Before the car was put in storage he put side pipes on it and painted it blue. Then as he was thinning the collection, he painted the car mosport green again. Fast forward to 1997. The collector decided to sell his entire collection. Three Corvettes went to Wide World of Cars (a Ferrari, Maseratti, BMW dealer in Rockland County, NY). The run down was as follows... a 1963 Corvette Coupe FI (silver/black), a 1955 Corvette Convertible (red/white/white), our 1966 Corvette Coupe, and a 1980s Porsche Targa in trade for a 1971 Ferrari Daytona Convertible. On a Saturday morning we loaded up the truck and headed to WWoC to look at a new car. When we stepped in the dealership showroom the mosport green monster graced our presence and needless to say the rest is history. Interestingly enough, that Friday before we went to the dealership, a Corvette Dealership from Upstate could not come up with the money for the three Corvettes and hence had to back out of the deal. If the deal had gone through, the Corvette would not be ours.

The Corvette is a very original piece. The body has never been hit, the motor has never been tampered with and the frame is straight as an arrow. We treated the Corvette to a complete frame off restoration at Vette Works Classic Restorations where the Corvette was meticulously put back to its 100% original condition. Options include the early production L-72 with 450hp, M-21, AM/FM radio, Teak Wood Wheel, Telescopic Column, and 5 original Knock off wheels and goldline tires. Similar to the Camaro, it amazes me how people took such good care of their automobiles in a day and age when the value was unknown. But all in all the color sold me the car! Thanks for tuning in!

Dan that is a beauty! Where is that big radio mural, and how old is that pic? Is that when you first got the car?

Thanks so much for the kind comments guys!

Charley... the car actually was painted on a body jig of some sort. That picture was taken when the knock offs were installed again to allow the restorers to roll the car around the shop (need be). Notice the side pipes too, the car was painted in preparation for the restoration.

Sam... The mural of the old radio is in Rochester, Minn. We took the car to the Lake Country Regional show. It was some back-drop!

How about a photo of the car doing a burnout away from the photographer? Click the shutter when the car is about 20 feet into second gear with the car just a little sideways---yeah, fishtail it a little so the Posi marks look cool.

Now that would make a good computer desktop photo.
