Default M40 COPO's

I found out something that I have suspected for a long time, that my car was an M40 before it became an M21.
Had to have the linkage replaced today, after 10 years of aggravation with never having it shift quite right. Turns out that the shifter plate was for a 3 speed trans. Now the shifter sits about an inch or so further back, so no more knuckle mashing shifting into 3rd. However, I was informed that there are 2 weld nuts at the top of the trans tunnel, and the opening for the speedo cable has always been for an auto.
Big Question: How many Berger cars were sold with the M40?
Copo.com does not list any.
Any Help?
Thanks, Andy
