Been having a discussion over on TC about seat belt codes. Take a typical code like 26-C-68. I'm pretty sure the 26 is 26th week, and the 68 is the year, but what does the letter code indicate. My Chevelles have codes A,B,C, F, and K. All 6 rear (male and female) belts in my 68 are 14-C-68. Has anyone here researched this and find out for sure what these letter codes are. TIA.... Bill

Bill,
There have been a few debates on this letter over the last couple years and most agree this is a plant code. Here is a link to an old TC thread that may help answer your question as well as one about the model numbers. http://www.camaros.net/cgi-bin/forum...c/6/3505.html? http://www.camaros.net/cgi-bin/forum...c/6/4303.html? ![]() Graeme

Kurt, I liked the line codes first, but after seeing some "C" rear hammils from impalas and rear "C" from camaros and they were different lengths! I would think the car model should dictate the line. Maybe it was section inside a plant? like "C" section
![]() BTW Team Camaro and team Chevelle appear down.

guys I am by far a seatbelt expert but I just went through the belts on my cars and restored a set for the 67 this last year and they were sewn by humans in a darn hurry back then...all the ones I have seen are different lengths even if they are from the same car..I am guessing they may have started out with a set length but by the time they folded the ends and such by eyeball that's what we ended up with ...I have measured them as much as 8/10" off in lengths and the tags are all over the place..if I did'nt know better I would say they were sewn in Taiwan new...I would like to read those other threads and compare the notes I have.

I looked at the belts in my totally original 69 Chevelle. Couldn't see the tags on the 3 rear seat female buckle belts without removing the rear seat, and it is a real
